Markesia Harris is a registered nurse, healthcare entrepreneur, and founder of Nursing Rental Property, LLC, with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. She began her career as a certified nursing assistant in a nursing home, a foundation that shaped her deep understanding of senior care, dignity, and independence. She later earned a Master’s degree in Nursing and spent 15 years in Emergency Services, further strengthening her clinical and leadership expertise.

While working in nursing homes, Markesia observed that many residents did not require physical assistance and were fully capable of managing their daily lives. Their placement was often driven by fear of isolation or family concerns about them living alone. This insight led her to reimagine senior housing through what she calls the “University Model”—a concept inspired by how young adults thrive in dorm-style communities. In this model, seniors flourish in safe, affordable homes shared with like-minded peers, fostering connection, belonging, and independence.

Her approach aligns with key principles of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs by prioritizing safety, community, and emotional well-being to enhance overall quality of life. Markesia is a passionate advocate for holistic senior living solutions that respect autonomy while providing meaningful social support.

Inspired by her grandparents, Geraldine and Willie Moody, Markesia founded her first property, Moody’s Residence, to honor their legacy and the sense of home and care they embodied. Today, she continues to build environments where seniors feel valued, supported, and empowered—just as her grandparents made others feel throughout their lives.
